BOTOX INJECTIONS
BOTOX (onabutulinumtoxinA) is a neuromodulator that temporarily blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at the nerve cell. In blocking this release, the muscle supplied by the nerve cell is unable to contract, which results in relaxation and softening of facial lines. Used by physicians since the 1980’s, BOTOX was the first neurotoxin approved by the FDA in 2002 and is now the most widely researched and studied treatment of its kind. The effects of the treatment can be seen within a week and last approximately 3 months. Despite all the lists of dos and don’ts after Botox, the reality is that there are no reliable studies that show body position or exercise after Botox affects the results. We therefore recommend our patients live life as usual after treatment. Although widely available today, it is important to seek experienced injectors as their technique has the most effect on the final results. dERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers provide volume and support to restore volume loss, enhance facial features, or gain a more youthful appearance. At Novella, we use cosmetic injectables composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occuring substance found throughout the body, with almost half of it found in the skin. As a powerful water-loving substance, it attracts and retains up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Once injected into the skin, HA fillers draw water into the treated area to plump the skin and soften wrinkles. Although the vast majority of patients love the results, one of the benefits of using HA fillers, aside from their natural appearance when injected, is that they can be dissolved if needed or if the appearance is not satisfactory. Effects from the treatment are seen immediately, improve over the following two weeks, and last approximately 9-18 months.,
